Ukraine president calls for reforming parliamentary election system

KIEV, October 26. /TASS/. Ukraine’s President Pyotr Poroshenko is set to introduce a system of proportional representation in the country’s parliamentary elections and to lift parliamentary immunity, the head of state said on the First National television o Saturday.

“Since Monday I am going to raise the issue of the system of proportional representation and of lifting the parliamentary immunity,” Poroshenko said.

Polling stations open at 8.00 a.m. on Sunday for election to the Ukrainian parliament, Verkhovna Rada. Its new composition will be made up on the principle of majority and proportionality.
