THE UNITED NATIONS, October 24. /TASS/. Election campaign in Ukraine is marked by an inordinate degree of filthiness and cynicism, Russian Ambassador to the UN Vitaly Churkin said on Friday as he took the floor at a meeting of the UN Security Council.

One can only feel deep sympathy for those in Ukraine who would really like to see their country’s civilized development.

“The current election race exposes an inordinate degree of filthiness and cynicism,” Churkin said. “The political field is being cleared of competitors in the figural and in the most literal sense likewise. They have adopted a law on lustration that typically precedes a sweeping witch-hunt, while dissenters are subjected to intimidation and violence.”

In addition to this, the Kiev authorities have imported the practice of lynching from across the Atlantic. “Mass media that have committed deviations from the uniform general line are being closed. If a TV channel broadcasts in the Russian language and the title of a newspaper of magazine contains the word ‘Russian’, they are automatically blacklisted as separatist,” Churkin said.
