SEOUL, October 15. /TASS/. Military talks between Seoul and Pyongyang on the border point of Panmunjon in the Demilitarised Zone (DMZ) yielded no results, spokesman for the South Korean Defense Ministry Kim Min-seok said on Wednesday.

The parties failed to agree on such urgent issues as naval clashes in the disputed maritime border in the Yellow Sea, the spokesman said.

“After North Korea proposed to discuss the recent exchange of fire between patrol boats in the Yellow Sea, the two Koreas held closed-door contacts in Panmunjon,” Kim Min-seok said.

The participants in the meeting failed to reach any significant agreements.

On October 4, the North Korea announced the government’s consent to hold such talks at the end of October or the beginning of November. The North Korean delegation took part in the closing ceremony of the 17th Asian Games at the South Korean port of Incheon. Both parties reached agreement to discuss the details of upcoming talks during working meetings.
