P5+1 meeting on Iran expected to be constructive — China ForMin

The negotiating process on the Iranian nuclear program has entered the key phase, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei says

BEIJING, October 15. /TASS/. China hopes that the meeting of the political leaders of the six world powers (five permanent members of the UN Security Council and Germany) on Iran due in Vienna on Thursday will be constructive, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said on Wednesday.

“The negotiating process on the Iranian nuclear program has entered the key phase. In spite of the fact that (the sides) are facing various challenges, we should not underestimate the attained results,” he said. “We hope that the negotiators will meet each other halfway, conduct a constructive discussion and search for the problem solution, taking into account mutual concerns,” Hong added.

The diplomat said the Chinese delegation at the negotiations would be led by Wang Qun, Division Director at the Department of Arms Control and Disarmament of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
