US vice-president, Lithuanian premier discuss Ukraine, European energy security

Biden thanked Lithuania for its presidency in the EU while resolving issues related to the Ukrainian crisis

WASHINGTON, October 11. /TASS/. U.S. Vice-President Joseph Biden met with visiting Lithuanian Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius to discuss the situation in Ukraine and European energy security, the White House said on Friday.

Biden thanked Lithuania for its presidency in the EU while resolving issues related to the Ukrainian crisis.

Biden and Butkevicius also discussed bilateral relations, the fight against the Islamic State terrorist group and the implementation of the decisions of the NATO summit in Wales.

Biden confirmed that the United States was committed to fulfilling the obligations in compliance with Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty that envisions collective defence of all NATO member-states, the White House said.
