Chinese premier to strengthen innovation cooperation during visit to Russia

In an article published by the newspaper, Li said relations between China and Russia were entering a new stage

MOSCOW, October 10. /TASS/. Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang will visit Russia on October 12-14 “to give an impetus” to growing strategic cooperation between the two countries, including in the field of technical innovations, the government Rossiiskaya Gazeta newspaper said on Friday.

In an article published by the newspaper, Li said relations between China and Russia were entering a new stage.

“Being long-term, sustainable and strategic, Sino-Russian interaction based on friendship is not affected by any fluctuations in world affairs or by external factors… trade turnover between our countries reached a record level of $90 billion last year. China has been Russia’s major trade partner for the fourth consecutive year, and Russia has been ninth for China,” he wrote.

Li said that innovation cooperation had become a remarkable moment in Chinese-Russian relations and the two countries were now facing the task of changing the structure of economy and development model.

He said the time had come to increase the share of scientific and technical innovations in cooperation between the two countries and also expand joint work in such fields as high-tech machine-building, energy-saving technologies, environmental protection, biopharmaceutics, information technologies, and financial services.

On October 14, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and Li will attend the III Moscow International Forum for Innovative Development “Open Innovations”. China is the forum’s partner country this year.
