MINSK, October 9. /TASS/. Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko had a telephone conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart Petro Poroshenko discussing the agenda of a session of the CIS Heads of State Council in Minsk, the Belarusian presidential press service said on Thursday.

“Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko apologised for not being able to attend a session of the Heads of State Council of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and persuaded the Belarus president as CIS chairman to notify other participants about Ukraine’s stance,” the press service said.

Reports say that Ukraine’s ambassador to Belarus will represent the country at the summit.

Poroshenko also asked Lukashenko to notify the CIS heads of state about Ukraine’s position on developments in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions and suggested that he and Lukashenko should meet in Ukraine in the near future to discuss bilateral relations and international agenda.
