Ukraine files no official request for secession from CIS - source

The other leaders of all the countries of the CIS have confirmed their participation in the meeting

MINSK, October 8. /TASS/. Ukraine has so far not filed an official request for secession from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), a source in the organisation’s Executive Council said on Wednesday.

“Kiev has not yet filed an official request for secession from the CIS,” the source said.

The leaders of all the countries of the CIS, but Ukraine, have confirmed their participation in the meeting of the Head of State Council in Minsk on October 10, a source of CIS executive committee structures told reporters.

The source said Ukraine had not yet filed an official request for secession from the CIS.

A meeting of the CIS Foreign Minister Council will be also held in Minsk on October 9. The Belarusian Foreign Ministry said earlier that the Ukrainian delegation would be headed by Ukrainian Ambassador to the country Mikhail Yezhel.
