NICOSIA, October 7. /TASS/. Turkey on Tuesday sent warships to Cyprus’ exclusive economic zone (EEZ) where the Italian consortium ENI and South Korea’s KOGAS were exploring for natural gas on the shelf, the Kibris newspaper said.
The Mizrak assault boat and the BAFRA corvette observe the work of the Saipem 10000 floating platform under Bahamas flag that is making exploratory drilling for natural gas in the EEZ in compliance with the concession agreement, the newspaper said.
According to earlier reports, Turkey decided to send its research vessel Barbaros to carry out seismic survey in the Mediterranean for natural gas exploration.
The Turkish authorities said the works would be held from October 20 to November 30.
