Death toll from Ukraine conflict exceeds 3,500 people — UN

The number of officially registered internally displaced persons has reached 275,500 people, UN Assistant Secretary-General for Human Rights Ivan Simonovic says

GENEVA, September 23. /ITAR-TASS/. The death toll from Ukrainian conflict has reached 3,543 people, including the MH17 flight victims, Ivan Simonovic, the UN Assistant Secretary-General for Human Rights, said in Geneva on Tuesday.

The number of officially registered internally displaced persons has doubled in Ukraine in a period since early August till early September to reach 275,500 people, Simonovic said. He admitted that the real numbers could be much higher given that many people preferred not to get officially registered.
