KIEV, September 12 /ITAR-TASS/. The Ukrainian government has submitted its recommendations on sanctions against Russia to Ukraine’s Council for National Security and Defense after the law “On Sanctions” had taken effect on Friday, the Ukrainian cabinet of ministers said. The sanctions list, however, does not mention the names of concrete people and companies that may fall under sanctions. Previously, it was decided that the law would apply to 172 individuals and 65 companies.
The Ukrainian government suggests that Russians who “supported the military aggression” should be banned from entering Ukraine and forbidden to take capital out of the country. Besides, all their assets in Ukraine should be blocked. Ukraine is supposed to stop purchasing goods and services from Russian companies and forbid Russian residents to privatize and lease state property in Ukraine.
The cabinet of ministers also suggested adopting additional measures of ecological, sanitary, phyto-sanitary and veterinary control of food products, textiles, cosmetics and household chemicals of Russian origin.
Ukraine is also planning to ban the transfer of technologies and the rights to intellectual property items to residents of Russia.
Ukraine’s Council for National Security and Defense will approve sanctions for each particular case. They will be imposed by presidential decree.
