DONETSK, September 05. /ITAR-TASS/. Water supply has been reconnected in some city districts of east Ukraine's embattled Donetsk as militia self-defense forces sought to force government troops back from residential areas.

Local fighters' immediate strategy seeks to halt devastating artillery and rocket strikes on densely populated districts. But massive shelling of the city continued on Thursday evening and overnight to Friday, eyewitnesses told ITAR-TASS while milita fighters targetted government troops near the airport.

Southern outskirts were under fire on Friday morning, locals said.
