He said his delegation had arrived in Moscow not to urge to do anything and not to persuade to act some way. They did not intend to take an arrogant or aggressive position towards Russia, he said, adding that all were concerned deeply about the worsening situation in eastern Ukraine and on the Ukrainian-Russian border.
All political possibilities must be discusses to establish a truce and monitor the situation on the border, he said.
He called on all the parties to the conflict not to create further provocations and take a constructive approach to what was happening in Ukraine. He said they believed it was necessary to stop the flow of arms and troops from crossing the border.
A reliable solution must be found to the crisis that has become an acute problem, he added.
The humanitarian situation in Ukraine also needs settlement, he said.
He added they supported Ukraine’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, unity and independence and called on all the countries to take the same position.
It is necessary to sit at the negotiating table and find solutions to the serious problems. The OSCE could contribute to the settlement. And it was the aim of the visit, he said.
With this aim, a special OSCE PA contact group was formed, which was headed by the Finnish president, he added.
