GENEVA, August 29. /ITAR-TASS/. Over 1,200 people died as a result of fighting in Ukraine's east within one month alone. The overall number of victims amounted to 2,200. Such statistics are contained in a regular report of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner on Human Rights on the situation in Ukraine. Itar-Tass got access to the UN Office report.
UN experts warn that this refers to "conservative estimates". "An actual number of victims as a result of violence and fighting in Ukraine's east is, most probably, far greater," says the document which is to be officially published later on Friday.
The fifth report by the UN Office covers a period from July 16 to August 17.
