Poroshenko & Putin discuss implementation of Ukraine’s association agreement with EU

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin reported about it on Tuesday on air of the Ukrainian TV channel ICTV

KIEV, August 27, /ITAR-TASS/. Ukrainian President Pyotr Poroshenko has discussed the implementation of Ukraine’s association agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin at a highly professional level, Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin said in a live interview with Ukraine’s ICTV channel late on Tuesday.

“The discussion was complicated but interesting,” the Ukrainian minister said, adding that de-escalation in Donbas was the underlying principle for Ukraine.

“The most important thing is to have a clear understanding what is necessary for implementing the Ukrainian president’s peace plan,” Klimkin went on to say.

“I hope that we can and should find a solution. It is peace and de-escalation. But it should not be a solution at a price of a compromise. A democratic European and unified Ukraine is the invariable pre-condition for any solution. All other issues can be discussed,” the Ukrainian foreign minister stressed.
