Russian President Vladimir Putin together with the leaders of the Customs Union (bringing together Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan) held a meeting with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and representatives of the European Union. The last time Russian president met Petro Poroshenko was a brief rendezvous in Normandy in June but it lasted a mere ten minutes and resembled a conversation on the run, with Germany’s Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande participating in it, too. The scope of topics for discussion includes Ukraine’s internal crisis, the humanitarian disaster in the east of the country, the importance of a ceasefire, and problems of bilateral relations in the wake of signing an Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.
