According to Gerashchenko, 1,490 policemen were dismissed in eastern Ukraine for “betrayal of the oath” and 1,227 policemen had quite service of their free will.
In late July, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov called for replacing about 20,000 policemen who had “deserted or discredited themselves”.
Avakov also voiced concern about the policemen who had failed the polygraph test.
In early March 2014, Avakov said 90% of Interior Ministry senior officers had been dismissed over the last three months.
