Palestinian militants from Hamas’ military wing, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, have shelled an Israeli gas rig in the Mediterranean Sea, the Al Jazeera TV Channel reported on Wednesday. There have been no reports yet on any damage or casualties as a result of the shelling.
This is the first time that Hamas militants have shelled an Israeli sea-based gas extraction and processing facility located off the Gaza Strip.
Militants of the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades earlier targeted only ground facilities on the territory of Israel with rocket and mortar fire.
