KALININGRAD, August 20. /ITAR-TASS/. A Polish search-and-rescue aircraft intruded into Russian airspace in the westernmost Kaliningrad region, border guards of the Federal Security Service reported on Wednesday.

Guards spotted the aircraft in the Baltic Sea coastal area at about 10am Moscow time, the service said, adding that it was not "a conflict situation”.

When making a turn, the Bryza short take-off and landing plane flew some 200 metres into Russian airspace and stayed there for a short while, the department’s statement said.

Poland's cultural centre in Kaliningrad quoted Polish mass media as saying the aircraft had flown into Russian airspace “while searching for a lost boat in the Vistula lagoon”. Reports quoting Poland's Ministry of National Security as saying Russia had been told about the search operation were confirmed by Kaliningrad border guards.
