Israel agrees to open a border crossing for aid supplies to Gaza Strip

There is also a certain headway on the financial issue connected with the arrival of resources to Gaza Strip for the payment of salaries to public employees

CAIRO, August 13. /ITAR-TASS/. Israel has consented to opening a border crossing for aid supplies to Gaza Strip, the Sky News Arabia television channel reported on Wednesday.

Among other things, the Israeli side does not object to extending the fishery zone for the Palestinians in the Mediterranean Sea for up to six miles with the possibility of its further extension by agreement with Palestinian authorities, as well as to reducing the border buffer zone to 300 metres, which the Palestinian delegation presses for. Besides, Israel promised to release yet another group of prisoners.

At the same time, the issues regarding a resumption of the operation of the airport and the seaport, on which the Palestinians also insist, may be settled only after a final agreement on a ceasefire is reached such is the condition set by the Israeli delegation. There is also a certain headway on the financial issue connected with the arrival of resources to Gaza Strip for the payment of salaries to public employees.
