Red Cross receives notification from Russia on humanitarian convoy to Ukraine

GENEVA, August 12. /ITAR-TASS/. The International Red Cross (IRC) says it has received notification from Russia that the humanitarian convoy is on the way towards the border with Ukraine, IRC spokeswoman Anastasia Isyuk told ITAR-TASS, adding that Moscow was expected to provide further details of the operation.

“We were briefed on the convoy’s movement Tuesday morning,” Isyuk said. “We are expecting all necessary information concerning the aid, including the amount and types of cargoes, as well as the way it will be distributed and where it will be stored,” Isyuk said.

Last Monday the IRC said it would like to have all information before the operation would begin.

In the meantime, the motorcade carrying humanitarian aid for the residents of south-eastern Ukraine had left the Moscow region. The convoy of 280 trucks is carrying 2,000 tons of humanitarian supplies.
