BISHKEK, August 11. /ITAR-TASS/. One person has been killed in a shootout on the border between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan in the area of the Laisuu glacier, the Kyrgyz border guard service said on Monday.
“Tajikistan’s representative for the Jirgatal border section told us that there was a shootout between the border patrol unit and three armed horsemen, in which one unknown perpetrator was killed,” the department said.
Since the beginning of the year, this has been the third incident on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border when firearms were used. Border guards of the two states fired twice at each other in clashes over disputed territories. Three servicemen have been killed and 10 wounded in the clashes.
