TEL AVIV, August 08. /ITAR-TASS/. Over an hour since the 72-hour truce in the Gaza Strip expired Palestinian radicals fired more than ten missiles at Israel, the Israeli army press office said on Friday.

One missile was intercepted above the city of Ashkelon, one exploded in an uninhabited area in Israel, another one dropped in the enclave.

Earlier on Friday, three hours before the end of truce two missiles had been fired at the border settlements in the Israeli territory, said the press office. Terrorists violated the ceasefire agreement, it said.

Negotiations between Israel and Hamas with Egyptian mediation in Cairo failed to achieve either permanent ceasefire or truce prolongation for two or three days more.

According to Israeli TV, the Israeli army had not yet reciprocated the fire. However, the country’s aircraft and helicopters have been observed above the Gaza Strip.
