Manchester United plane diverted after hoax bomb threat

LONDON, August 05. /ITAR-TASS/. Manchester police on Tuesday have arrested a passenger of a plane, belonging to the Qatar airlines company, which reported a bomb threat on board and made an emergency landing at Manchester airport, local law enforcers said.

One of the passengers was arrested on suspicion of making a false bomb threat on board. The suspect has been kept at the airport pending transportation to one of the police stations in Manchester.

When the plane was approaching the city on Tuesday morning the pilot of the Airbus 330, which was on the way from Doha, reported that an indentified object resembling a bomb was on board the plane.

After a radio message about the dangerous find was received jets of the British Air Force went into the air to intercept the plane with the suspicious object on board and convoyed it to Manchester airport.
