CAIRO, August 05. /ITAR-TASS/. As ceasefire regime in the Gaza Strip initiated by Egypt came into force on Tuesday morning, the country will seek indefinite prolongation of truce, the local media reported on Tuesday.

Reports that the parties were ready for a brief respite came after consultations ended in Cairo between the Palestinian general delegation and director of Egyptian intelligence service on Monday evening. At night, Hamas that controls the enclave told Cairo it was ready for a temporary truce.

Israel was always reported to be prepared for an unconditional ceasefire and notified the U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry. Israel announced troops would be withdrawn from the Gaza Strip before the truce came into force.

The Palestinian delegation is still in Cairo, and Egypt hopes Israeli negotiators might join the group to cement the results.

People in Gaza destroyed cities will use the 72-hour break to bury victims of the military operation that killed more than 1,830, the death toll that considerably exceeded that of the 2009 Israeli operation. Many districts are in ruins where even locals cannot recognize their homes. The people will have to rake through the wreckage with their hands, as they have almost no special equipment.
