Malaysia to send its police mission to MH17 crash site in eastern Ukraine

KIEV, August 01. /ITAR-TASS/. Ukraine and Malaysia have signed an agreement on sending Malaysia’s police to the crash site of the Malaysian Boeing in eastern Ukraine, the Ukrainian foreign ministry said on Friday.

The document will allow Malaysia to join the Dutch-led investigation mission, the ministry said. “Malaysian personnel to be sent to Ukraine will comprise representatives of civil police who will be tasked to ensure protection of the crash site,” the ministry said.

A Boeing-777 of the Malaysia Airlines (flight MH17) en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur crashed on July 17 in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk Region 60 km from the Russian border, in the zone of combat operation between the Donetsk self-defence forces and the Ukrainian army. All the passengers and crewmembers onboard the plane - 298 people - died.
