This month Germany has rendered nine million euro humanitarian aid to Gaza, he said.

On July 8, 2014, the Israel Defense Forces announced the start of the operation Protective Edge in the Gaza Strip against Hamas militants.

Last week, Human Rights Watch said Israeli air attacks on Gaza had been targeting apparent civilian structures and killing civilians in violation of the laws of war.

The Palestinian healthcare ministry reported that since July more than 1,000 people had died from Israeli air and artillery fire on Gaza.
