Al-Mayadeen TV channel said that hundreds of residents were entrapped in the cellars on the outskirts that the Israeli military had been pounding.
“The reports say people are striving to leave the dangerous district but cannot. It is very risky,” a spokesman for the Gaza’s health ministry said. “The death toll has risen to 18, the wounded are well over a hundred but we are unable to help them.”
He said they were faced with an analogous situation in the refugee camp in Shejaya where 72 Palestinians were killed, with 72 men, 13 women and 21 children among them.
