TransAsia plane crashes in Taiwan after failing to make emergency landing

At least 48 people were killed and 10 more injured

BEIJING, July 23. /ITAR-TASS/. As many as 48 people were killed and 10 more injured when a TransAsia plane failed to make an emergency landing in Taiwan, Xinhua news agency reported.

The plane had to make an emergency landing in Penghu County. The plane was flying from Gaoxiong to Magong.

The news portal Taiwan News reporterd that ATR 72  caught fire after an emergency landing. Several houses nearby also caught fire.

Preliminary reports say 58 people were onboard, inluding 4 crewmembers.
