Ukraine cancels participation in Council of CIS Border Guard Commanders

KIEV, July 16. /ITAR-TASS/. Ukraine has withdrawn from the Council of CIS Border Guard Commanders, the director of the international legal department of Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service said on Wednesday.

“We have cancelled our participation in the Council of CIS Border Guard Commanders,” Alexander Melnikov said adding that the border guard service had received “total understanding and an absolute support “ from the National Security and Defense Council and from the Foreign Ministry.

Ukraine abstained from the meeting of the CIS Border Guard Commanders Council that took place in the Russian Black Sea resort city of Sochi on June 4 and where Russia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan took part.
