China calls for flexibility in talks between Iran, P5+1

VIENNA, July 13, /ITAR-TASS/. China is calling on all participants of talks between Iran and the six international negotiators on the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program, the P5+1 group of countries, to display flexibility to reach a final agreement, Deputy Chinese Foreign Minister Li Baodong told journalists on Sunday.

“We face difficulties and obstacles, so we need to work together and we are urging all participants to show flexibility and political will to reach an agreement as soon as possible,” Li said.

P5+1 is the five permanent members of the UN Security Council - the United States, Russia, China, the United Kingdom, and France plus Germany.

Iran says it needs nuclear power to generate electricity, but Western powers led by the United States claim Iran’s eventual aim is to create nuclear weapons.
