Tripoli international airport closed for at least three days after rocket fire

The pro-Islamic Operations Cell of Libyan Revolutionaries took responsibility for the attack

TUNIS, July 13, /ITAR-TASS/. The international airport in Tripoli today was subjected to rocket fire and had to cancel all flights, the local media report.

According to them, in the airport area began a battle between former members of rebel forces from Zintan /a city 170 kilometres south-west of the capital/, who control the transport hub, and representatives of competing armed groups. This followed messages in social networks, where the Islamists were calling to squeeze the Zintan groups from the areas they occupied in Tripoli.

The pro-Islamic Operations Cell of Libyan Revolutionaries took responsibility for the attack. The attackers say “the revolutionary forces entered the area of ··the airport in Tripoli and clashed with the group controlling it.”

According to media reports, the capital city’s airport will be closed for three days.
