MOSCOW, July 01. /ITAR-TASS/. The supplies of Russian warplanes to Iraq are made within the framework of previously concluded contracts, it is planned to complete them by the end of this summer, Russian Ambassador to Iraq Ilya Morgunov told ITAR-TASS on Tuesday.

“It is planned to supply a total of, as far as I remember, 5 - 10 planes. The delivery will be completed by the end of summer, if not earlier,” the diplomat said.

“The contracts had been concluded in 2013 and now they are being fulfilled. They are not only on planes, but also on other equipment that will be delivered as it is manufactured,” he added.

Last week, the Iraqi Defense Ministry reported the arrival of a batch of Sukhoi Su strike fighters from Russia. It was also reported that Iraq requested Russia in connection with the aggravation of the situation in the country to urgently supply to it the Su-25 attack aircraft due to the delay of the supply of F-16 fighters that had been promised by Washington.
