KIEV, July 01. /ITAR-TASS/. At least four people have been killed and five more wounded after a passenger bus came under fire in Ukraine’s eastern Donetsk Region on Tuesday morning, local health authorities said in a statement.
“Four people were killed and five others sustained injuries of various degrees after a passenger bus came under fire today in the morning in the city of Kramatorsk,” the statement said. “The wounded people have been taken to local hospitals.”
The attack on the bus with civilians comes in the wake of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko’s termination of the ceasefire in the embattled southern regions, primarily in Donetsk and Luhansk.
On June 20, Poroshenko declared a week-long ceasefire in the country’s embattled south-east, and on late Friday he announced a three-day extension of the ceasefire. However, there were numerous reports that the truce had been violated.
Hundreds of people have been killed, buildings have been destroyed and tens of thousands have been forced to cross the border from Ukraine to Russia since April as a result of Kiev’s military operation against federalization supporters in Ukraine’s south-east involving armored vehicles, heavy artillery and attack aviation.
