MOSCOW, June 30./ITAR-TASS/. Representatives of Russia’s Central Electoral Commission (CEC) will attend the forthcoming referendum on the future of Scotland as observers, CEC Chairman Vladimir Churov told reporters Monday.

“The referendum is Scotland is an interesting phenomenon and we have an invitation to attend it,” he said. “We’ll see. I don’t rule out we’ll confine ourselves to a remote observation.”

Churov indicated, however, that the CEC would anyway monitor the referendum on Scotland’s possible independence from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
