EU summit kicks off in Brussels

The situation in Ukraine and appointment of a new EU leadership is high on the agenda

BRUSSELS, June 26. /ITAR-TASS/. The EU summit starts in Brussels in Thursday. The situation in Ukraine and appointment of a new EU leadership is high on the agenda.

Friday, June 27, will be the main working day of the summit. It will begin with signing association agreements with Moldova and Georgia. An economic part of the association agreement with Ukraine will also be signed on Friday.

The heads of EU states and governments will proceed with discussing the situation in Ukraine, along with the feasibility of further economic sanctions against Russia, prospects for strengthening energy security in the EU and ways to increase employment and economic growth in the European Union.

Moreover, theEu leaders will approve Lithuania’s accession to the euro zone strating from January 1, 2015.
