TSKHINVAL, June 23. /ITAR-TASS/. The new parliament of South Ossetia will put the question of accession to Russia to a referendum. Anatoly Bibilov, the newly elected parliament speaker reported this to ITAR-TASS on Monday.

The election campaign of Bibilov’s United Ossetia party (which scored about 46% of votes at the elections) was based on the pledge to initiate the process of reunification with Russia. “We don’t deny our slogans; there will be no double approach to this issue,” the parliamentary speaker assured. “The question will be put to a referendum, but this should be undertaken by a completely formed, consolidated working parliament.”

He added that three deputies of the parliament’s head were already elected; the forming of committees and permanent commissions was launched. “We will be consulting with all parties and make joint decisions on committees’ heads,” Bibilov said. “We need a consolidated parliament.”
