Voter turnout at South Ossetia’s parliamentary elections exceeds 36% at 14:00

Elections will be announced valid in case the voter turnout exceeds 50%

TSKHINVAL, June 08 /ITAR-TASS/. Voter turnout at parliamentary elections in the Cauvasian republic of South Ossetia was 36.7% as of 14:00 Moscow time, chairperson of the republic’s Central Elections Commission Bella Pliyeva said on Sunday.

The turnout in the caoital city of Tskhinval was 30.2%, in the Leninogorsky region - 62.2%, in the Dzaursky regions - 44.4%, in the Tskhinval region - 45%, and in the Znaursky regions - 47.5%

The 34-seat South Ossetian parliament is elected for a term of five years under the proportional system. Nine parties are vying for parliamentary seats.

 To have a parliament representation, a party needs to get over the seven-percent barrier. Elections will be announced valid in case the voter turnout exceeds 50%
