Ukrainian Rada rejects initiative on denunciation of visa-free agreement with Russia

KIEV, June 04. /ITAR-TASS/. The Verkhovna Rada has turned down a proposal to hold a debate on denunciation of an agreement on a visa-free regime with Russia. The proposed bill drew support from 127 Rada deputies, which was short of the necessary 226 votes.

The bill, which came up at first reading on Wednesday, envisages amendments to a number of legislative acts so as to ban foreigners and people without citizenship from taking part in political activity on the territory of Ukraine.

If passed, the bill would have legalized administrative punishment which might be applied to foreigners and people without citizenship for taking part in political activity on the territory of Ukraine.
