UN human rights commissioner urges Kiev to refrain from use of force against civilians

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay says she is extremely concerned with the latest developments in Ukraine

RABAT, May 29. /ITAR-TASS/. The Ukrainian authorities must guarantee refraining from the use of excessive force or any discriminatory steps aimed at causing damage to peaceful citizens of the country, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay said on Thursday.

Pillay, who is currently on an official visit to Morocco, said that she was extremely concerned with the developments in Ukraine, adding that a UN human rights delegation was on a monitoring mission in Ukraine and would submit its report on the situation in the conflict-hit country in mid-June.
