Azerbaijan president: there are all diplomatic bases to settle Nagorno-Karabakh conflic

“There is no other variant of settlement,” he said

BAKU, May 27, /ITAR-TASS/. All necessary diplomatic and legal bases have been laid for the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev said on Tuesday.

“The conflict can be settled only on the basis of the norms and principles of international law,” he said at an official reception dedicated to Azerbaijan’s national holiday, the Day of Republic, marked on May 28. “Territorial integrity, including the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, is not a subject for disputes. Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity has never been and will never be a subject of talks.” He stressed that the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh should be settled on the basis of the four resolutions on that matter of the United Nations Security Council. “There is no other variant of settlement,” he said.

At the same time, he pledged that Azerbaijan would further develop its economy and build up its army. “The army will have more support. More funds will be allocated to the army needs, to buy state-of-the-art weaponry,” he said.
