MOSCOW, May 21. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia has expressed readiness to contribute to resuming the Palestine-Israel dialogue jointly with Quartet for Mideast Peace (Russia, the EU, the UN and the US) for the sake of peace in the Middle East.
The Russian Foreign Ministry commented on the consultations between Russian Presidential Special Envoy for the Middle East, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and Palestinian counterpart Tayseer Jaradat on Wednesday.
“The high-ranking diplomats exchanged views on major global and regional issues, including on prospects for the Middle East settlement,” the ministry says.
Bogdanov and Jaradat also discussed measures to achieve inter-Palestinian accord. “Russia supported Palestine’s policy towards restoring the unity,” the ministry says.
The Russian and Palestinian high-ranking diplomats considered further strengthening of friendly relations. They also discussed measures to enhance the political dialogue and expand mutually advantageous cooperation in different fields, the ministry says.
