NEW YORK, May 14. /ITAR-TASS /. The South Dakota court has sentenced to death a man for killing 75 -year-old Maybelle Schein. According to the local media a harsh sentence for 44 -year-old James McVay was submitted because the murder of an elderly woman was a part of his plan to assassinate US President Barack Obama. During the investigation, the convict suffering from a mental illness admitted his guilt and said that he had committed a crime to possess of her car, in order to get to Washington and kill the president.
It is noteworthy that the prosecution required life imprisonment without the possibility of early parole. However, the court did not take into account any mitigating circumstances and the verdict was harsh.
