NATO military drills Spring Storm start in Estonia

Estonian Defense Ministry reported that around 6,000 troops will take part in three-week military exercise

TALLINN, May 05. /ITAR-TASS/. Annual military drills Spring Storm have started in Estonia with the participation of the largest NATO contingent ever. Estonian Defense Ministry reported that around 6,000 troops will take part in three-week military exercise.

Latvia and the UK are represented by infantry companies. The US has sent an airborne unit. Lithuania dispatched an intelligence unit to the drills. Poland is represented by three attack aircraft and a missile defense system unit.

Spring Storm military maneuvers are held for the eleventh time. The drills will be held in 5 out of 15 Estonian counties.

The aim of the military exercise is to assess the skills of the infantry batallions, rehearse cooperation between different units and improve management methods of staff divisions.
