According to the Interior Ministry, Otaiza’s body was found in the Araguata neighborhood on Saturday. However, the victim did not carry any documents, and it took time to identify him. Later on the same day, the police found Otaiza’s car with a bullet hole.
The circumstances of murder of the national intelligence service ex-chief are being established. The Minister of the Interior refrained from announcing any versions.
Eliezer Otaiza graduated from a military college in Caracas. In February 1992, he took part in a coup attempt led by lieutenant colonel Hugo Chavez. After Chavez came to power, Otaiza was serving in his personal guard.
