ASTANA, April 19, /ITAR-TASS/. Several passenger train carriages derailed in northern Kazakhstan on Saturday, April 19, injuring a number of people, the Kazinform news agency reported.
The accident occurred near the station Sagiz some 200 km from Atyrau on the Caspian Sea to which the train was travelling from the former capital of Almaty. There were 19 carriages in the train.
The news agency cited one of the passengers as saying by phone that “no one has been killed but quite many are injured”. “Some are getting medical attention at the scene, others with bone fractures are being taken away by ambulances. There is no panic,” the passenger said.
