SCO committed to fighting extremism — Secretary-General

BEIJING, April 17. /ITAR-TASS/. Member-countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) have reaffirmed their commitment to coordinate efforts in fight against extremism, terrorism and separatism.

"In their speeches, the secretaries of the Security Councils outlined our joint efforts to combat organized crime, arms smuggling, drug trafficking and illegal migration. Special attention was paid to countering cyber terrorism," SCO Secretary-General Dmitry Mezentsev told ITAR-TASS by telephone after the 9th meeting of SCO Security Councils’ Secretaries on Thursday.

“The SCO member-states emphasized the importance of ensuring regional security and stability," he said. "Over 13 yearsm the SCO has amassed experience in multifaceted trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation,” Mezentsev said.
