China's Public Security Minister Guo Shengkun delivered a speech at the 9th meeting of secretaries of security councils of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization

DUSHANBE, April 17. /ITAR-TASS/. China's Public Security Minister Guo Shengkun has warned about “external forces” trying to provoke new waves of “color revolutions” as they exploit socio-economic contradictions and problems in target countries.

“They use socio-economic contradictions and problems to overthrow governments, trying to provoke new waves of ‘color revolutions’,” Guo stressed on Thursday at the 9th meeting of secretaries of security councils of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

“This poses a serious threat for the sovereignty and security of countries in the region and cause general concern of CSTO states,” the minister underlined, calling for working out joint countermeasures.

Commenting on the situation in Afghanistan, the Chinese official said “China was ready to strengthen interaction with that country together with all SCO members, in the first place in trade and economy, personnel training and assistance in national reconciliation and economic upturn”. The Chinese public security minister brought forward proposals to step up interaction in fighting drug-trafficking, cross-border crimes and other threats.
