SLOVIANSK, April 13, 13:21 /ITAR-TASS/. As a result of the use of force in Sloviansk, a much-troubled city in the East-Ukrainian Donetsk area where the people demanding federalization of the country seized the local department of the Interior and the office of the Security Service of Ukraine, anti-riot police units have eliminated a block post on a road connecting Sloviansk with neighboring Kramatorsk and farther on with Donetsk.
“A block post at the entrance to Sloviansk from the direction of Kramatorsk has been destroyed and the special forces are eliminating a block post from the direction of Kharkov is being eliminated at present,” Alexei Matsuka, the editor-in-chief of Novosti Donbassa (Donetsk Coalfields News) internet publication said.
Eyewitnesses indicated that firearms, including grenade-launchers had been used but there was no immediate information on dead or wounded.
Helicopters that were seen barraging the downtown part of the city in the morning had flown away.
