KIEV, April 06. /ITAR-TASS/. Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) said on Saturday that it had detained a subversive group in Ukraine’s Lugansk region that had planned to seize power in the region, the SBU press service reports.
“Ukraine’s Security Service detained 15 activists of a subversive group in a full-scale operation. They confiscated 300 tommy-guns, one anti-tank grenade launcher, a huge number of grenades; Molotov cocktails; huge amounts of smooth-bore weapons and cold steel arms,” the SBU says in its report.
The group allegedly planned to seize power in the Lugansk region by force on April 10.
Ukraine’s Security Service in cooperation with the prosecutor’s office of the Lugansk region initiated criminal proceedings on charges of subversive activities and state treason.
Ukraine’s Security Service continues searches and detentions in Lugansk and seven districts of the Lugansk region.
